Cookie policy
The short version: analytics is opt-in, and nothing is set unless you accept it.

What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Some are essential to make a site work or to remember a choice you have made; others, like analytics cookies, are not essential and need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
The choice we store
When you accept or decline analytics on the banner, we store your decision in a first-party cookie named cc_consent for a year, so we do not ask again. This is strictly necessary to honour your choice, so it is set either way. It contains only 'granted' or 'denied' and identifies no one.
Analytics cookies (only if you accept)
If, and only if, you accept analytics on the banner, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<id> to measure how the site is used (which pages are read, where visitors arrive from, broad location and device). These typically last up to about two years. They are not set before you accept, and are cleared on a best-effort basis if you later withdraw.
Before you accept, Google Consent Mode is set to deny all storage and no Google script loads at all. Accepting grants analytics storage only; advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad-user-data stay denied, and we run no advertising.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the Cookie choices link in the footer at any time to change or withdraw consent, or use any browser or tracker blocker. The site works fully either way.
More detail on the personal data behind analytics is in the privacy notice at /privacy/. The interactive CDI self-assessment is separate and runs entirely in your browser; its scores are never sent to us or to Google.
